Berwick Vet Careers
Open Positions
We’re growing and looking for an experienced vet to bring their insight, curiosity, and clinical strength to the team – and maybe contribute a baked good or two along the way.
⚠️WARNING:
Reading this may trigger the irresistible urge to rethink your career.
Caution: This role contains dangerously high levels of job satisfaction, team banter, and actual lunch breaks.
Stop scrolling at your own risk.
To the Vet Who’s Seen a Few Things,
If you’ve already clocked a few years in practice and you’re looking for a new kind of normal—where the team has your back, your lunch break is more than a myth, and the snacks cupboard is always stocked (and so is the conversation around better ways to do things)—we might be the right fit.
At Berwick Veterinary Hospital, we’re not just a clinic—we’re a proudly independent, ASAV-accredited GP Hospital of Excellence that’s been trusted by the local community for over 30 years. Our clients stick with us, our team does too (some have been here longer than the autoclave), and our caseload is the kind that keeps you interested without breaking your soul.
We’re growing and looking for an experienced vet to bring their insight, curiosity, and clinical strength to the team – and maybe contribute a baked good or two along the way.
🩺 What You’ll Be Walking Into:
This isn’t just a job—it’s a workplace where you’ll actually want to show up. Our team is genuinely supportive, our clients are loyal (and growing), and our culture strikes the balance between professional excellence and not taking ourselves too seriously.
We’re proud of our tight-knit team who bring a variety of skills and backgrounds to the clinic— there’s always something to learn here. That said, we’re not stuck in our ways. We love hearing new ideas. If you’ve got a better way to do something—we’re all ears.
You’ll be part of a clinic that prioritises people as much as pets. We’ve built a culture on mutual respect, clinical excellence, and humour—we have annual awards for excellence (and also downright stupidity). Don’t fret, the latter is usually taken out by our boss each year. It’s the kind of team that actually likes working together (weird, right?)—and always has each other’s backs.
⏰ Our Version of Work-Life Balance:
- Full-time = four 10-hour days, with a fair mix of morning and evening shifts
- Need flexibility? Let’s talk. We get that life doesn’t always fit neatly into a roster 🫠
- No on-call. No Sundays. No public holidays. Ever
- Work a Saturday? Have a long weekend ✈️
- Work 36 hours per week, get paid for 38 — The chance to breathe (or catch up on those histories you’ve been avoiding)
Support & growth, minus the fluff
- Mentorship? Absolutely.
- Career progression? We’ll back you.
- Want to explore a new special interest (bonus points if it’s birds—we’ll happily handball 😜) – we offer study leave, generous CPD allowance, AVA membership, and regular in-clinic training (yes, there’s always food involved 🤤).
👌Our nursing team: Certified Legends
- Skilled, experienced, and actively involved in case management.
- You’ll work in dedicated vet/nurse pairs for continuity, collaboration, and sanity.
- We deliver gold-standard care, backed by all the toys you’d expect—and a few extras.
- Oh, and did we mention our dedicated receptionist? She’s the glue that holds the clinic together – with an effortless ability to balance client care and team support, and a sixth sense for when morale needs a lift – just when you think the day’s going sideways, she quietly pulls a perfectly timed homemade treat from her freezer stash (baked on her day off, of course).
🌈 We value what you value.
Whether you’re a parent returning to practice who needs flexibility, or an experienced vet wanting a fresh start without all the corporate fluff—we’ll meet you where you’re at. We’re open to shaping a role around the right person.
❓Who are we looking for?
🦄 We’re not chasing unicorns (we’ve got plenty of those). Just a great vet, who cares.
Ready? Let’s do this.
If you’ve read this far, you’re either interested or hungry. Either way, email us, call us, or just turn up – we’ll be ready.

SENIOR VET NURSE WANTED – Join Team Leroy at Berwick Vet Hospital
(Warning: contains dark humour, industry puns and an urgent need to apply.)
Are you an experienced vet nurse who’s just as comfortable placing a catheter in a tiny puppy, as you are trying to make friends with a spicy feline? Are you looking for a clinic where your hard-earned skills are respected and utilised, your coffee order will be memorised, and your inappropriate jokes are appreciated? Interested in working for a privately owned GP that is ASAV accredited, prides itself on practicing gold standard veterinary medicine and has a diverse and exciting array of cases come through the door? Want to be part of a nursing team that is a highly respected and cohesive unit with our veterinarians, where your input will always be valued? Then pull up a stool — we saved you a spot!
At Berwick Veterinary Hospital, we’re not just a place to earn your dollarbucks — we’re a team of passionate, down-to-earth animal lovers who genuinely like working together (most days, anyway!), and a place where you actually want to show up. We’re growing our team, and we need a Senior Veterinary Nurse who can bring their knowledge, kindness, and calm-in-the-chaos energy to our crew.
What you’ll be doing (besides eating chips and oversharing):
🐾 Leading by example with gold-standard nursing care
🐾 Mentoring junior nurses and helping them not freak out
🐾 Being the calm, steady hand in theatre, consults, and emergencies, to both our nurses and junior vets
🐾 Helping us laugh through the wild days and celebrate the wins
🐾 Bringing your A-game (and maybe some baked goods?)
What you’ll get from us:
💚 A genuinely supportive team who has your back (or your front, depending on what’s required…)
💚 A management team who actually listens to, and supports your ideas, concerns and ambitions (wild, we know!)
💚A wide range of cases that will constantly tickle your fancy (because let’s be fair, a constant stream of desexings everyday can get a bit beige)
💚 Annual awards for excellence (and also downright stupidity). Never fear the latter is usually taken out by our boss each year
💚 A well-appointed, long standing clinic with a stellar reputation in the community, modern equipment with all the bells and whistles, and several staff who could be on The Great Australian Bake-off
💚 Real opportunities to grow, lead, and shape the nursing team and clinic culture, protocols and direction
💚 CPD encouraged and supported — always
💚 Flexible hours, family friendly considerations and a healthy respect for your work-life balance
💚 Wonderful and respectful clientele who are willing to go the extra mile for their fur babies
A bit about you:
✔️ Cert IV or equivalent
✔️ 5+ years experience (you’ve seen some things, and lived to tell the tale)
✔️ Confident in medical and surgical nursing (emergency and specialty nursing desirable)
✔️ Cool-headed, team-minded, and ready to lead
✔️ Excellent communication skills (bonus points if you can translate vet scribble)
✔️ You love a good team debrief and overshare, almost as much as you love vets who clean up after themselves
Where are we?
Berwick, VIC – a leafy, vibrant suburb with great coffee, better people, and easy access to Melbourne and The Dandenong Ranges. Work close to home in a clinic that values you and everything you bring to the table.
