Meet the gorgeous Bella! ?Unfortunately this little cutie recently found out the hard way that eating chocolate Easter eggs can be dangerous ??
Chocolate contains theobromine and caffeine, which can be fatal if consumed in high enough quantities ?
Signs of chocolate toxicity can take hours to develop, and can last for days. Signs can vary from vomiting/diarrhoea, to seizures, an elevated heart rate or cardiac arrest in severe cases ?
Fortunately Bella’s parents found the Easter egg wrappers lying around the house, and she was brought into the clinic immediately for assessment and treatment ✅
This is a great reminder that with Easter quickly approaching, we keep all chocolate locked away in places that our pets cannot access ?
If you are concerned that your pet has eaten chocolate, or that your pet is displaying signs of chocolate toxicity, contact the clinic on (03) 9707 2655 or your local emergency centre for prompt advice.
