Louie was noticeably sore after jumping out of his owner’s arms and landing awkwardly on his back legs. It was off to the emergency centre for radiographs – revealing he had fractured his left hind leg – ouch!
Louie was admitted to hospital here at BVH. Under a general anaesthetic Dr. Candace placed pins into the knee to assist repair of the fracture. The procedure went well, and Louie was discharged that night to rest with his family.
After 6 weeks of strict rest, Louie’s knee was re-xrayed – the fracture had healed well, and Louie was admitted for a second surgery with Dr. Tracy to remove the pins.
Louie’s family will gradually introduce regular exercise into his daily routine. We will see him back in 3 months for a revisit. What a brave boy!
